For sale in Huntington Beach, where they currently film, and the brick facade/grey garage/the rusty siding are a dead ringer for their shop.

Only thing that has me questioning it is that the details are not great on this car; the exterior is great, but the interior is pretty shabby, including the clutch pedal wrapped up in athletic tape:
So what are we looking at here?

It says the price is firm...doesnt Mike always leave room to haggle, or is that only when cameras are present...?

If Mike advertises a price as firm I believe he left less haggle room, but some and is hoping a quick sale. I haven’t watched in several seasons, but I believe that is what he did in some of the older episodes.

The price is really too high for this car. Maybe if it had 12k miles on it, not 128k miles.

Struts, shocks, bushings, interior refresh, and a new paint job sounds like wheeler dealers all day.
Who on earth wants an 80s car in brown and browner

Why the repaint? Mazda metal flake is really cool.

I don’t know that that’s fair. Ant’s been pretty much everything that Edd was (and has equal, if not greater, credentials and custom builds to his name) , and if we remove the rose-tinted glasses Edd did plenty of “we can’t afford to spend any more on this car” work in his time as well.
That said, this has some weird oversights , so who knows. Part of me is wondering if this is a car that didn’t make the cut for some reason.

Hagerty rates a #1 ‘85 at $18k; this is not a #1 and would be a marginal #2 at $11,400; combined with the fact that it’s a GSL-SE, and prices for clean GSL-SEs have stiffened up over the last two years or so, it’s not that far off even with the mileage.
It’s certainly not a deal by any means , but the market on these has started to move and I don’t think many of us have noticed.

Don’t think you’re alone there! Also don’t think you’re wrong that the attention to detail is sorely missing in this car, whatever the reason.

I have noticed, I sold my base 85 from Georgia that was all stock with 179k miles for $3000. Now I could get maybe $5000. The GSL-SE are more desirable yes, but with original survivor paints and much lower miles. Something hastily painted an unmatching factory color and a lot of miles really shouldn’t command top dollar.

You’re not wrong about that last part for sure.

That’s a nice -SE. The exterior looks the part for $11.5k but the interior not so much. There’s some non-originality in that center console (the black area around the shifter/ash tray should be silver, the knob, etc
) and overall interior wear. That said, interior bits for these are hens teeth (I have an ‘85) so I can see why they’d skip some of those details.

Yup, totally agreed that the interior doesn’t befit the price.
I have an ‘85 non-turbo car that I race in a SpecRX7 class, so I don’t have to worry about interior junk, although Racing Beat did recently have to commission a clutch to be built for my car because there weren’t any more race clutches in inventory but they just show them as “in stock” ; previous owner switched the flywheel over to the earlier ‘74-’82 style to try and save some weight with a stock part, and the parts are really drying up for the early cars.

My burgundy interior has similar fade-to-brown on top of the door cards and horn/wheel, too. The seat covers are also abnormal. It’s a nice car though; I can’t complain too much since it means mine may be worth more soon. Mine needs paint, though - it shows every one of its 180k+ miles.
What wheels/tires do you run for spec7? Just curious; I’ve about had it with trying to find good tires that aren’t r-comps for the 13" wheels (though that’s probably what you run)
.

We run some old school magnesium wheels and Toyo Proxes RA1s, unfortunately I’m no help with street tires. I had a hard enough time finding 14" street tires for my NA Miata that didn’t suck, can’t imagine life is great for 13" wheels.
